BHB WELCOMES PRIZE MONEY BOOST FROM LEVY BOARD

25 Mar 1999 Pre-2014 Releases

Horseracing Board today welcomed the news of a significant boost for prize money from the Levy Board.
The Levy Board’s contribution to prize money for the calendar year 1999 is to go up by £1 million, from £31.5 to £32.5 million.
The extra funds will be available from 1st July.
BHB Chief Executive, Tristram Ricketts, said: “”This is extremely good news for the racing industry. The additional cash will bring significant benefits in its own right, but we particularly welcome this recognition from the Levy Board that prize money is a top priority.
“” There is a long way to go before the prize money available in British racing reaches the kind of level we have targeted in the Financial Plan, and a great deal still depends on a positive outcome to the Levy negotiations. But today’s announcement from the Levy Board is certainly a step in the right direction.””
