The British Horseracing Board today launches a telephone and email-based media centre aimed at providing journalists with a one-stop shop for queries about the sport, its equine and human stars and a range of racing-wide initiatives.
The British Horseracing Media Centre will be based at the offices of BHB’s retained consumer PR agency, the GEM Group. It will also proactively contact racing and non-racing journalists about topical racing themes, issue promotional material about racing to targeted media audiences and will set up features in the sporting and consumer media on the leading names in the industry.
The Media Centre will also support the initiatives of industry bodies by providing an additional communications tool, including by assisting racecourses in the promotion of their race meetings both locally and regionally.
At the outset, the following information will be available from the British Horseracing Media Centre:
• Profiles on all of the top Flat and National Hunt jockeys, trainers and owners
• A photographic library
• Informative releases on owning a racehorse, celebrities in racing, the BHB Summer Triple Crown and Grand Slam, diverse careers, group outings, jargon busting, did you know…?, fashion at the races, family days out, first time racegoers, statistics and demographics, race sponsorship, racing calendar and welfare of racehorses
Chris John, Marketing Director of the British Horseracing Board, commented:
“The British Horseracing Media Centre represents a major step forward in the promotion of racing, particularly to the non-racing media. The sport has great stories to tell and the Media Centre will assist in conveying them to the media. For the first time, racing will have a dedicated, centralised media resource from which we expect that the sport will derive great benefit. The Media Centre will also provide a channel through which organisations across the sport can publicise their good news stories.”
