18 Aug 2020 BHA Features Racing/Fixtures

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today confirmed changes to Great Yarmouth’s upcoming fixture on 25 August.

This is to allow remedial work to repair the ground on the bend at Yarmouth to be completed.

As such the two races with distances beyond one mile due to be staged on 25 August:

  • 1m3f 104y Cl. 5 Handicap (56-75) 3yo+
  • 1m2f 23y Cl. 6 Handicap (46-65) 3yo+

Will be replaced with the following two contests:

  • 6f 3y Cl. 6 Nursery
  • 6f 3y Cl. 6 Fillies Novice Stakes 2yo

Following requests for the above opportunities via the trainer’s race planning forum.

In addition, Lingfield Park will stage an additional race to replace one of those lost from the Yarmouth card on 26 August:

  • 10f 3yo+ Class 6 Handicap

Entry and declaration deadlines will be as normal. Full race conditions and updated race programmes for all new races will be available via the Racing Admin site, www2.racingadmin.co.uk shortly.

Ben Cook, Group Racing Executive at Arena Racing Company, said:

“An irrigation main which is situated on the bend, belonging to the neighbouring Golf Course, has burst. Unfortunately, this means that we are unable to race on the round course until repairs have been completed. These repairs, whilst not significant, will not be done in time for 25 August, but will be completed in plenty of time for the Eastern Festival in September. We will update regarding the fixture on 30 August in due course.”
