COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING APPOINTMENTS AT BHB

19 Feb 2001 Pre-2014 Releases

The British Horseracing Board has enhanced its communications and public relations function by developing a dedicated Communications Department to provide a strategic and structured approach in this key area.

BHB has also reorganised the Marketing Department to optimise the Department’s ability to manage and direct the increasing number of responsibilities now within its remit.

Heading both Departments as Marketing and Communications Director will be Teresa Cash, currently BHB’s Marketing Director. This will allow BHB to benefit from Teresa’s experience in the media and public relations environment and enable her to give more of her time to strategic direction. She will be supported by a Communications Manager, Alan Delmonte, who will be responsible for the day to day implementation of the communications strategy. At present Executive Assistant to the BHB Secretary-General, Tristram Ricketts, he was a racing journalist for two years before joining BHB four years ago. He will be promoted to his new position on 12th March 2001. Information Officer Richard Hayler, who joined the BHB in January, will report to Alan Delmonte.

In the Marketing Department, Zoë Davis has been promoted to the role of Marketing Manager with direct responsibility for the management of the national marketing strategy for racing and betting, in liaison with the Racing and Betting Marketing Group (RBMG). Zoë is currently BHB’s Racing Marketing Executive.

BHB Managing Director Chris Reynolds said today: “At this time of significant and rapid change in Racing, it is essential that BHB is able to convey its key policies and messages in a clear, effective and timely manner through a strategy driven by dedicated management.

“The new structure and redefined responsibilities will enable BHB to co-ordinate the functions of the Marketing and Communications Departments by bringing them together under the direction of Teresa Cash. This will allow BHB to benefit from Teresa’s experience in the media and public relations environment and enable her to give more time to strategic direction.

“It is particularly pleasing that the restructuring allows the skills and abilities of highly committed members of the existing BHB team to be even better utilised.”
