Friday is deadline day for Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards nominations

08 Dec 2014 Grassroots

This week is the last chance to nominate outstanding employees for the 2015 Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards.

Nominations close this Friday (12 December) for the 11th annual awards offering £120,000 in prize money, which is split between the winners, runners-up and their respective yards.

Trainers, owners, managers, stud owners and colleagues are all urged to act now to ensure some of the hardest working stud and stable staff in Britain are recognised for their dedication and achievements.

Employees can be nominated for either the Leadership Award; Dedication to Racing Award; Stud Staff Award; Rider/Groom Award; Administration Staff Award; or  David Nicholson Newcomer Award. The Employee of the Year will be selected from among the winners of the first four categories.

The winner of each of the first five categories will receive a prize of £5,000 with an additional £5,000 also being awarded to the winner’s yard or stud. Two runners-up in the first four categories will win £2,000 each, with the same amount going to their year or stud.

The winner of the Administration Staff Award will receive £5,000, with the same amount going to their yard or stud, and the winner of the David Nicholson Newcomer Award will receive £2,000, with the same amount going to their yard or stud, while two runners-up will receive £1,000 each, with the same amount for their yard.

The Employee of the Year will receive an additional £15,000, with the same amount awarded to their yard or stud.

Success in one of the four main Award categories is half way to matching pool money for winning races such as the QIPCO Champion Stakes or the Derby, and the overall Employee of the Year’s stable receives more prize money than they would for the Grand National.

The winners of the six categories will be honoured during an evening ceremony at the Jumeirah Carlton Towers hotel in London on Monday 23 February. The evening will be presented by Clare Balding, with three-time champion jockey Ryan Moore as guest presenter.
