The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today announced that an additional Jump fixture will take place on the afternoon of Sunday 15 April at Newcastle Racecourse.

The full race programmes and further fixture information will be available via the racing admin site www2.racingadmin.co.uk from 3pm, on Tuesday 10 April.

This is to allow time to take tomorrow afternoon’s fixture at Hexham into account in light of current weather conditions.

Entries for the seven race card will therefore close at 12 noon on Wednesday 11 April, with declarations on Friday 13 April.

Stuart Middleton, Racing Operations Manager at the BHA, said:

“Newcastle will be hosting the first of the four additional Sunday fixtures announced last week and we are grateful to them for stepping in and to the Levy Board for their assistance.

“As ever  we aim to make the fixture information available to participants and the public as soon as possible, but in light of the current weather forecast we felt it sensible to see whether Hexham’s fixture tomorrow takes place before devising the final race programme.

“We will aim to announce Sunday’s card at Newcastle via the Racing Admin site as soon as possible and will issue a text to Trainers when it is available to view.”

Jon Pullin, ARC Racing Director, said:

“We are pleased to work with the BHA to put on an additional fixture at Newcastle on Sunday. Our team were keen to provide horses with an additional opportunity and support trainers in the north given the challenges the weather has presented to us all this winter.”

Notes to editors:

1. This is the first of four upcoming Sundays when additional fixtures will be scheduled to account for the overall interruption to the Jump season caused by the weather. More information is available here.
