RICHARD GUEST AND TWO EMPLOYEES CHARGED BY THE HRA IN RELATION TO WHAT’S A FILLY

Published: Wednesday 24 Jan 2007

Richard Guest, along with two of his employees, Richard Dalton and Louise Tidman, have been informed that they must attend a Disciplinary Panel enquiry to consider whether or not they have committed a breach of Rule 201 (vi) of the Rules of Racing.

Rule 201(vi) states that that “Any person may be declared a disqualified person or otherwise penalised by the HRA in accordance with their powers under Rule 2 of these Rules who:- (vi) is convicted of any criminal offence in relation to racing in this or any other country.”

The enquiry follows Guest’s conviction by Durham Magistrates on 14th November 2006 of one count of permitting unnecessary suffering to be caused to an animal. Dalton and Tidman were convicted on the same date of one count of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, the animal in question being WHAT’S A FILLY.

The enquiry is scheduled to be heard on Thursday 8th February.

24th January 2007

NOTES FOR EDITORS:

1. All three were given a conditional discharge for two years.

2. The Guideline Penalty Range for a breach of 201(vi) is disqualification or exclusion from racing for 6 months to 10 years, with an entry point of one year.

This is just a guideline and the Disciplinary Panel can issue penalties outside of the advised Penalty Range.
