The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today announced that six additional fixtures will take place between 20-28 February following the loss of six days of racing due to equine influenza. The fixtures are as follows, with two Flat floodlit fixtures followed by four Jump fixtures:

Chelmsford City – Wednesday 20 February
Wolverhampton – Thursday 21 February
Catterick – Friday 22 February
Uttoxeter – Monday 25 February
Ffos Las – Tuesday 26 February
Musselburgh – Thursday 28 February

Entry and declaration deadlines will be as normal. Race programme, times and further fixture information for both fixtures will be available via the Racing Admin site www2.racingadmin.co.uk shortly.

The BHA has also lifted the restriction on races dividing for all races up until the end of February. This means that courses opting in can divide contests on their originally programmed card up to eight races to provide more opportunities where demand exists.

Paul Johnson, Head of Racing at the BHA, said:

Given the extraordinary circumstances of recent days we were acutely aware of the number of horses that will be needing to run next week throughout all levels of the horse population. As such, we have moved as quickly as possible to add six fixtures next week across both codes.

“Race programmes at these fixtures are being finalised but will reflect feedback from trainers received in recent days and weeks.  Coupled with increased flexibility on divisions at many racecourses, the aim is very much to ensure that suitable opportunities exist for those horses that need them

“Our thanks go to the Horserace Betting Levy Board and the racecourses involved for their help in staging these fixtures so quickly.”
