TRAINER WILLIAM KNIGHT AND JOCKEY PAUL DOE CHARGED OVER RUNNING OF POSTGRADUATE

The HRA has referred the running and riding of POSTGRADUATE (IRE) in the Coral Backing NSPCC Handicap Stakes at Windsor on 16th April to the Disciplinary Panel for an enquiry.

The Panel will consider whether or not Paul Doe, the rider, has committed a breach of Rule 157 and whether or not William Knight, the trainer, has committed a breach of Rule 155(ii).

A date for the enquiry will be notified in due course.

NOTES FOR EDITORS:

1. Rule 157 states: “Where, in the opinion of the Stewards or the HRA, a Rider has intentionally failed to ensure that his horse is run on its merits the Rider shall be deemed in breach of this Rule and guilty of an offence.”

2. Rule 155 (ii) states: “It shall be the duty of the Trainer to give or cause to be given to the Rider of any horse in his care such instructions as are necessary to ensure the horse runs on its merits.”

3. Penalty ranges for the offence are 21-42 days for the rider and £3,000-£12,000 for the trainer, with an entry point of 28 days and £5,000.
