WORK RIDER CHRIS FALOON CHARGED WITH LAYING HORSES

Published: Wednesday 30 May 2007

Following a Security Department investigation, Chris Faloon, a regular work rider (but not an employed member of stable staff) for Irish trainer JJ Lambe, is to face a Disciplinary Panel enquiry in relation to his laying horses trained by Lambe and running in Britain to lose on 19 occasions between 23rd November 2004 and 26th October 2005 contrary to Rule 247 of the Rules of Racing.

Rule 247 says it shall be a breach of the Rules of Racing for ‘….any other person, who has provided a service or services connected with a Trainer’s business of training racehorses and within 21 days of his having last done so, to lay any horse under the care or control of the trainer in question to lose a race with a betting Organisation or to instruct any person on his behalf to do so or to receive the whole or any part of the proceeds of such an act.’

As he is not bound by the Rules of Racing in Britain, the Panel will be asked to decide whether or not they should exercise their powers under Rule 2(v) and exclude him (for a period) from all premises licensed by the HRA.

A date for the enquiry will be announced in due course.

30th May 2007
