Additional Jump fixtures at Musselburgh on Sunday 10 February and Exeter on Monday 11 February

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today announced that additional Jump fixtures have been scheduled for Musselburgh on Sunday 10 February and Exeter on Monday 11 February following the loss of multiple Jump fixtures due to the weather in recent weeks.

The decision to stage these extra fixtures has been taken in line with the BHA’s agreed policy to review the impact of abandonments on the race programme in order to determine any need for additional opportunities for Horsemen.

Musselburgh will stage an eight race card on 10th February worth £160,000, with Exeter’s existing fixture on Sunday 10th February will now extended to a two day meeting with an additional six race card worth £50,000 to be staged on Monday 11th February.

Entries for both fixtures will close tomorrow, Tuesday 5 February at 12 noon, with declarations at the 24 hour stage as normal.

Race programme, times and further fixture information for both fixtures will be available via the Racing Admin site www2.racingadmin.co.uk shortly.

Paul Johnson, Head of Racing at the BHA, said:

“With weather conditions looking set to improve this week we have taken the opportunity to review whether it would be possible to stage additional jump fixtures in order to fill gaps that have appeared in the race programme due to abandonments.  It is not always possible to find racecourses that are able to add jump fixtures in at short notice but on this occasion we were pleased to receive applications from Musselburgh and Exeter.

“We are grateful to both racecourses for their efforts to minimise the impact of lost fixtures on Horsemen and to the Levy Board for their support in making the fixtures viable.”
