The BHB has appointed an Information Officer to assist in handling the Board’s press and public relations.
Gillian Nevin, 27, was recruited from BBC Ceefax, where she worked as a sports journalist specialising in racing. She starts at Portman Square tomorrow (January 6th 1999), and will report to Communications Director, Peter Bell, who has overall responsibility for the BHB’s public relations and marketing.
Gillian was educated at Merchant Taylors Girls School in Crosby and Sheffield University, where she took a degree in law. She was a member of the university riding club and took a keen interest in riding for the disabled. In 1995, Gillian attended the BHB’s Graduate Development Programme.
Peter Bell said: “”Gillian will be a first-rate addition to the BHB team at the start of what promises to be a busy year. Her experience as a journalist, both on and off the racecourse, combined with a personal interest in racing which dates back to childhood, makes her ideally suited for the job.””
