Lingfield Park Wednesday July 6: Provisional All Weather Turf Races Programmed

01 Jul 2016 Racecourse Racing/Fixtures

  • Turf Course currently Soft, Heavy in places
  • Some waterlogged areas on the round course
  • Provisional AWT races close noon tomorrow

Following recent rain, the turf course at Lingfield Park is currently softer than ideal and with some waterlogging still in place on the round course and further showers forecast, the British Horseracing Authority’s Racing Department has issued a Provisional AWT card to safeguard this fixture.

Lingfield Clerk Of The Course Ed Arkell reported: “‘There has been a considerable improvement in the turf course this week as a result of less rain but with an unsettled forecast we cannot be certain that all of the turf course will be fit for racing on Wednesday. A provisional all-weather card gives us the ability to ensure the meeting goes ahead and that horses have the opportunity to run.”

The new, provisional AWT races will close at noon on Saturday, July 2. In the event of the provisional AWT card being activated, declarations to run must be made by 10am on Monday, July 4. The Clerk Of The Course at Lingfield will make a decision on whether to activate the provisional card no later than 8am on July 4.

Full race conditions for the provisional races are available on the BHA’s Racing Admin website, www.racingadmin.co.uk, under “Fixtures and Races”.
